Broadway From The Bog Meadows

Fine Art Belfast Print

Scratchy and scribbly pylons pull the viewers eye across the scene, from left to right.

The iconic ‘City’ hospital is the distant focal point- a flash of yellow in the skyline.

The chirping and buzzing of wildlife is everywhere only  intermittently disturbed by the zoom of cars, vans and lorries from the nearby motorway.

High grasses swish in the breeze.  Their textured stalks and fluffy bog cotton heads layer the middle and foreground while saturated areas of sodden marshy ground are represented by a spectrum of green tones.

The story behind...

Broadway From The Bog Meadows

I sometimes leave my car in the Park Centre carpark and take a walk through the Bog Meadows.

It’s an unusual oasis in the inner city.

Paths meander through grass and mini-lakes and there’s texture everywhere.

To my left I see stacked terraced housing of St. James and  to my right sit the oblong, smooth concrete shapes of industrial Boucher.  It’s a feast for the senses!

Bird and insect sounds intermingle with city clunking ones, all against a backdrop of the fast swish of vehicles.

A most interesting of contrasts!
