This ‘portrait’ shaped Black taxi depiction is full of extreme light and dark tones.
The result is striking.
Parked up at the old taxi rank at Milfield, the taxis drivers wait for a few more customers to arrive before heading off towards the west of the city.
Mere suggestions of road signage, traffic lights and rooftops are evident but the vehicles dominate the scene.
The Black mountain looms in the background. It’s a scene that will resonate with many Belfast people of a certain age!

Delivery charges will added at checkout, and are calculated according to shipping address. Large prints (A0, A1, A2) are shipped rolled in strong-walled postal tubes. Small prints (A3, A4) are shipped strong cardboard flat envelopes. Originals are carefully boxed & packaged. A tracking number is emailed to the customer at time of posting. The dark taxi vehicles were the catalyst I needed to create a moody, gritty, inner-city scene.
I gave the composition of this depiction a lot of thought and the extreme shadows contrasting with dazzling streaks of light create, I trust, a balanced and atmospheric study.
