Calf Eyes

Fine Art Calf Print

This calf’s distinctive eyes are the focal point of the study.

They convey a certain innocence and apprehension.

Detailed painterly techniques are used to pull the viewer in and oil paint is layered on to create subtle texture.

If one looks closely, a wide spectrum of colour, tones and shades are apparent.

As the calf gazes ahead, the delicate ‘twist’ of his body has been captured.

It’s a unique pose but one so typical of this young indigenous animal.

This print works beautifully hung on its own or as part of Una’s Calf series.

Calf Eyes hanging in sophisticated living room -- Una O Grady Paintings
The story behind...

Calf Eyes

I’ve used lots of subtle detail around the eye area as the connection between viewer and calf’s gaze is the dominant theme.

Representing that pose and the almost shy manner in which the head is held, is important to me

I hope I have captured a certain beauty in this very ordinary moment.
